Dan Cong – Tea and Legends

During the Song Dynasty, Zhao Bing fled to Wu Dong (乌岽山) Mountain during a war.

He was extremely thirsty and the local farmers led him to chew the leaves straight from the tea bushes. This not only quenched his thirst, but allowed him to regain his energy.

Therefore, Dan Cong tea was named Tea of Song (宋茶) and later also Song cultivar (宋种), raising the potential status of Dan Cong to the imperial level.
