Ochazuke (お茶漬け) is a simple rice dish that combines green tea (ocha), steamed rice, and some salty ingredients (zuke means “submerged”).

The Japanese enjoy this dish because it is a quick meal that you can prepare with what you have at home.


  • 2/3 cups steamed rice
  • Japanese hot infusion tea (green tea), just enough to cover the rice. Try our special Genmaicha Matcha Organic Green Tea!
  • 1/4 cup pieces of grilled salmon (leftovers are also fine)
  • thinly sliced seaweed
  • Chives or edamame or other herbs you like
  • Wasabi to taste

How to prepare delicious Ochazuke

Put the hot rice in a small bowl, add all the ingredients. Pour the hot green tea over the rice.
A real comfort food.
